Stephen Ray "Steve" Bateman, age 69, of Wheaton, Missouri passed away Monday, January 6, 2025 at Roaring River Health and Rehab in Cassville, Missouri.
He was born March 3, 1955 in Stella, Missouri the son of J.D. and Lahaunta June (Saunders) Bateman, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his brother, Jim Bateman and sister, Patricia Pointer.
Surviving are three sons, Jeff Bateman and his wife Korrie of Fairview, Missouri, Joey Bateman and his wife Leslie of Stella, Missouri and Jeremy Bateman of Wheaton, Missouri; two brothers, Mike Bateman and his wife Brenda of Cassville, Missouri and Bob Bateman of Exeter, Missouri; one sister, Sheila Hughes of Exeter, Missouri and four grandchildren, Paisley, Axeton, Jaylyn and Kohen.
Steve attended school in Wheaton, Missouri graduating from Wheaton High School in 1973. He was employed by Mitchell Sawmill from 1975 until 2004 when he retired. Steve loved to go hunting, fishing and mushroom and arrowhead hunting. He was a lifelong resident of this area and was a member of Solid Rock Southern Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday, January 10, 2025 at McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton.
