Stephen Biagi Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Shannon Funeral Service - Shelbyville on Dec. 22, 2024.
Stephen Vincent Biagi, 73, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 21st, at his home in Shelbyville. He was born on August 2, 1951 to Vincent Biagi and Rachel Dawson Biagi. He was a 1969 graduate of Shelbyville High School. He graduated with a Business Administration degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1973, where he met his beloved wife of 47 years, Marie. Upon graduation, he joined the family business in Shelbyville, The Biagi Company. He was the third generation at the appliance store, where he worked his entire career and became co-owner with his brother Robert.
He was a member of the Catholic Church of the Annunciation where he volunteered as an altar server, lector, and Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, and was a member and past-President of the Parish Council and Men's Club. Stephen had a strong commitment to seeing Shelbyville thrive as a community and demonstrated this commitment by volunteering as President of the Shelbyville Downtown Merchants Association (now Shelby Main Street) and as two-time Director of the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce.
For years, Stephen and Marie loved playing co-ed volleyball with friends and in more recent years playing pickleball and making new friends. After retirement, Stephen enjoyed being a weekly volunteer with the Cathedral of the Assumption's daily lunch program, transporting donated produce from Gallrein Farms and serving meals to individuals experiencing homelessness.
Stephen is survived by his wife Marie, his children Stephanie Morrell (Coleman), Michael Biagi (Lauren), Kate Biagi-Rickert (Tony Rickert), and Marty Biagi (Rachael), and 9 grandchildren he loved to dote upon. He is predeceased by his extra-special sister Sara Biagi, and is also survived by siblings Greg Biagi (Marian), Angela Cook (Steve), Marilyn Tamer (David), and Robert Biagi (Marcia), as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation services will be held on Friday, December 27th 12-8pm at Shannon Funeral Home. There will be a Prayer Vigil service Friday, December 27th 7pm at Shannon Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be held at the Catholic Church of the Annunciation in Shelbyville on Saturday, December 28th at 11am with visitation prior at the church starting at 9:30am. Burial to immediately follow at Grove Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
Expressions of sympathy are welcomed for Awake Ministries - Food Bank, 701 Washington Street, Shelbyville, KY 40065 or the Catholic Church of the Annunciation, 105 Main Street, Shelbyville, KY 40065.

Steve and I, along with Mark Vuturo and Jim Gonzewski were freshman year roommates at Notre Dame in the 1970´s. We managed to touch base personally from time to time when he came to Cincinnati for a Braves Reds game, but always sent out an annual Christmas message summarizing the full lives he and his family were leading. It was a surprise not to get that message next year, only to receive a message from the Class of `73 informing us of his passing. We´re still processing the fact that he is so suddenly gone and we wish his family peace and may his memory be a blessing. All the Best. Jerry and Rosie baker

So sorry to hear Steven passed. Just watched the Irish beat Georgia and was so proud of Marty's influence on the win. His Dad was a huge fan and is one proud father. RIP Steve, peace to the family.
