Stephen Dennis Calloway, 70, of Mars Hill passed away Monday, September 8, 2025 at Mission Hospital. Mr. Calloway was born on December 8, 1954 in Asheville, NC to the late Carl Calloway and Carlyle and Evelyn Goodman. Stephen loved the beach; was an avid racing fan including Nascar and enjoyed being in the outdoors. He always had "projects" going and loved to "tinker". Stephen retired from Mission Hospital after numerous years of service. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Jean Calloway. Those left to cherish his memory is his fiancé, Elizabeth Shook of 8 years; daughters, Sonia Beach (John) and Shanielle Harvey all of Jonas Ridge, NC; sister, Dianne Artus (Albert) of Spartanburg, SC; brothers, Michael Calloway (Kathy) and Dean Calloway all of Asheville; and two grandchildren, Emma Beach and Jaxson Harvey. Per Stephen's request, the family will celebrate at a later date at his favorite place, the beach. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Messino Cancer Center, Asheville, NC, Oncology Nurse, Shannon Niven (Mission Hospital), and Candace and Kris Howard for the loving care they helped Elizabeth provide.
