Stephen P. Dabrowski passed away January 11, 2026, in Oklahoma City. Steve, as he was known, was born in New York City on November 1, 1947, the son of Peter and Jenny Dabrowski. He attended Epiphany Grade School in NYC, Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, and earned a degree in Psychology from St. John’s University in Queens, NY.

Following his college graduation, he joined the US Air Force and was commissioned as an officer by completing Officer Training School. Steve earned his pilot wings at Vance AFB in Enid, OK, where he met his beloved wife, Deanna (Dee) Mason. They were married on July 3rd, 1971, and moved to Charleston AFB, SC, where Steve flew C-141 cargo planes for 2 ½ years. He served in Thailand and the Philippines during the Vietnam War as a radar controller for the Airborne Command and Control Center. From 1975 to 1979 he was stationed at Travis AFB, CA, flying the C-5 cargo plane. Steve was stationed at Altus, AFB, OK, as an Instructor Pilot and Safety Officer, then Scott, AFB, IL, as an Executive Officer for the Deputy Chief Staff of the Military Airlift Command Intelligence. Returning to fly the C-5 at Dover AFB, DE, he retired as a Lt. Colonel with more than 24 years of service to our nation earning numerous decorations and awards. In 1994, he became a commercial pilot for American Trans Air until retiring again in 2007 to begin his “fishing Ski Island” career, which he enjoyed to the end.

In addition to fishing, Steve was an avid train enthusiast, collecting and showcasing N-scale model trains. He enjoyed attending train shows and museums and riding numerous restored trains wherever he traveled. A Catholic since birth, he was a member of St. Eugene’s Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Dee; daughter, Liz Moore and husband Kevin; son, David Dabrowski and wife Jennifer Whitten; grandchildren: Madeline, Miles, and Emmett; and several cousins. He is also survived by numerous members of Dee’s family. His parents preceded him in death.

Viewing will be at Smith & Kernke on N. May from 10am – 7pm Wednesday, January 14, 2026. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 1pm at St. Eugene Catholic Church, the Rosary will be said at 12:15pm just prior to the Mass. Burial will follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery with full military honors.
