Stephen William Edwards passed away on August 21, 2025, at the age of 75 in Knoxville, TN. Steve was born November 20, 1949 to the late Bernice Edwards (Dukes) and the late James William Edwards in Old Hickory, Tennessee.

Steve is survived by the love of his life of 52 years, Kathy Edwards (Rankin). He is also survived by his son David Edwards and his wife, Dallas of Knoxville, TN. His brother, Mike Edwards and his wife, Christi of Nashville, TN. His sister in-law Sandra Medlin and her husband Galen of Eagleville, TN. Half-sister, Joy Kalis and husband Dan of Ormond Beach, FL; Half-sister Janet Ratliff and husband Dave of Knoxville, TN. Uncle Adrian Dukes of Old Hickory, TN. Steve's love extended well past his immediate family to his numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and close friends. Including his neighbors for well over 32 years, Martha and Bobby Honea of Hendersonville, TN who were their devoted and thoughtful companions throughout the years.

Steve graduated from DuPont High School in Old Hickory, Tennessee. He then went to work for the State of Tennessee in the General Services department, repairing typewriters and other small equipment. After retiring from the state he began working for an online auction company, where he would meet with state and city managers from all over the country.

His favorite hobby was as a licensed amateur (ham) radio operator. He was well versed in morse code and spent many evenings making contact with other operators around the world. He enjoyed NASCAR and Tennessee athletics.

Steve was a devoted husband over the many decades he got to spend with Kathy. Although he was a quiet and reserved individual, after getting the chance to get to know him he was a loyal friend with a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time with his extended family and friends.

On behalf of Steve, his family wants to express their deepest and most sincere thanks for the blessings and care that the people of Echo Ridge Assisted Living, Morning Pointe, and Lyons View Rehab Center have provided over the past few years. Also for the numerous doctors and nurses who have provided their care and support over the past decades including the extraordinary kidney transplant team at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville where Steve was a successful recipient in 2009.

There will be no services held for Steve as a part of his final wishes and all services are being handled by Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton, TN. www.Holleygamble.com.
