Stephen Howard Gallion, 66, of Austin, Texas passed away unexpectedly at St. David's South Austin Medical Center on July 4, 2025. Steve was born on September 23, 1958 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Howard and Eileen Gallion. He had four brothers and four sisters.
Steve graduated from Riverview Gardens High School in 1977. He then moved around the Midwest, Texas, and Arizona, working as an Information Technology professional for over 35 years. He became a father in 1999 and loved sharing funny stories about raising his daughter, Glynnis.
Steve loved reading his many books about the Tudors and European history. Because he was always interested in the supernatural, he worked as a paranormal investigator for several years. A lifelong lover of music, Steve was an avid guitar player and songwriter who recorded his songs on YouTube. He loved living in Austin, where he could enjoy live music any day of the week. He could often be found at his favorite spots, Kelly's Irish Pub and Saxon Pub, watching live shows or enjoying outdoor house concerts with friends.
Steve also loved animals. In the late 90s, he rescued two cats, Socks and Tiggy. In 2007, he adopted two dogs, Bonzai and Sheena. While living in Austin, he adopted his dog, Jill. Steve was an avid Facebook poster, sharing his life with Jill and daily doses of cuteness for all to enjoy.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Eileen, brother Kevin, and brother-in-law Brian Dobin. He is survived by his daughter, Glynnis Gallion, siblings Cindi Dobin, Chris (Connie) Gallion, Michael (Vicky) Gallion, Gina Gallion, Lisa (Chad) Rushing, Linda Brotzman, Brian Gallion, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and his beloved blue heeler Jill.
An online Celebration of Life is being planned for Sunday, July 20th. The invitation and details will be shared to Steve's Facebook page.
Harrel Funeral Home is serving the family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Steve Gallion End-of Life Services GoFundMe to assist with Steve's end-of-life expenses.
