Stephen Haycox Obituary
He was the beloved husband of Bernadette Haycox and the loving father of Stephen A. Haycox (Sarah McPheron) and Mary-Elizabeth (Anthony) Pisco. He was the proud and devoted grandfather of Gianna and Sophia. Stephen was also the dear brother of Richard (Janice) Haycox. He was preceded in death by his cherished parents, Albert and Anna Haycox.
Stephen was a devoted Catholic whose faith guided every aspect of his life. He lived out the Gospel message of St. Francis each day, embodying service, humility, and love. As an active member of the Secular Franciscan Third Order, Stephen dedicated himself to acts of charity and service within the community.
Beyond his faith, Stephen found great joy in music and performance. He served as a lector at his parish and sang in both the church choir and the Dearborn Community Choir, sharing his vibrant spirit through song. Stephen also had a deep passion for gardening, finding peace and purpose in nurturing the beauty of nature. His gardens were a reflection of his soul: patient and joyful.
Stephen's warm smile, steadfast faith, and unique sense of humor touched all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and everyone whose lives he so generously enriched.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary service at 6:00 p.m., at the Dearborn Chapel of Voran Funeral Home, 23701 Ford Road, Dearborn (313-278-5100). Stephen will lie in state at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday at Sacred Heart Church, 22400 Michigan Avenue, Dearborn, followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at St. Hedwig Cemetery.
In honor of Stephen's faith and service to others, memorial donations may be made to the Solanus Casey Center, 1780 Mt. Elliott Street, Detroit, MI 48207.

I met Stephen at Maple Manor while my mother was there. I was blessed to be able to share the Eucharist and our faith with him. His faith was strong. He always had a positive spirit and I looked forward to seeing him each morning. My Mom passed in January. I knew Stephen had been in the hospital as he had texted me. Had I known the Lord took him home I would have been at his funeral. I'm sorry I missed it. And sorry for his family's loss. Eternal rest grant unto him, oh Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon him. Peace- Pam Lincoln.
