Stephen Holt

Dr. Stephen Holt, a distinguished academic and entrepreneur in the field of medicine, has passed away at the age of 74.
Born in Swinton, UK, Dr. Holt earned his medical degree from the University of Liverpool, where he laid the foundation for a career marked by exceptional achievement and dedication.
In the early 1980s, Dr. Holt moved to Canada, joining the University of Saskatchewan as a professor. His expertise and passion for medicine soon led him to the United States, where he contributed significantly to the field of gastroenterology and internal medicine as a double board certified physician with a specialization as a clinical pharmacologist.
Dr. Holt was also a respected author, with numerous publications in peer-reviewed medical journals. His research and writings have enriched the medical community and inspired future generations of healthcare professionals. Dr. Holt was known for his compassionate and non-judgmental approach to patient care. In an era when fear and prejudice surrounded the AIDS epidemic, Dr. Holt provided care when others hesitated.

He had a natural talent for drawing and delighted in creating cartoons that brought joy to his family. He was also known for finding hidden gems in Goodwill stores, as he couldn't pass up a bargain.
Stephen is survived by his children: Fraser, Stephanie, Andrew, Stephen, Sophia and Evan; his sister, Elaine and his grandchildren: Norah, Colin and Jaxon. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Margaret and his brothers, Arnold and Frank.
The family will receive visitors from 11 am to 1 pm on Tuesday, July 16 at Scanlan's. A funeral service will conclude the visitation beginning at 1 pm.
