Stephen Johnson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Click Funeral Home & Cremations Tellico Village Chapel on Jan. 19, 2026.
Stephen (Steve) Johnson, age 71, from Loudon Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026 with his loving wife Sue by his side. Steve was diagnosed with cancer in January 2024 and battled the disease bravely.
Steve was born in Waterloo Iowa on March 4, 1954 to Elizabeth and Eldon Johnson. Steve lived in Iowa and Illinois, where he met the love of his life (Sue Komarec Johnson) and they were married on April 23, 1977. They made Waterloo their home for 44 years before moving to Tellico Village in Loudon TN.
Steve worked in the construction field for most of his life before retiring in 2019. He was a talented finish carpenter and woodworker, building beautiful furniture pieces for their home. In his younger years, Steve was active, both onstage and offstage, at the Waterloo Community Playhouse in Waterloo where he made life-long friends. Steve was also an avid fisherman and enjoyed many trips to northern Minnesota with dear friends. Another favorite pastime was drinking beer and playing Euchre. How he loved his Sam Adams beer!
Steve was a loving and caring soul as well a loving son, brother, husband, friend, and father to numerous four-legged furry 'kids' over the years.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, both sets of grandparents, and numerous aunts and uncles.
Steve is survived by his wife, mother, brothers Dave (Sue) and Bruce, nieces, nephews, cousins, and his beloved black lab Charlie.
Per Steve's wishes there will be no service. A celebration of life will take place in Tennessee at a later date.
Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, your local animal shelter, or to the family.
