Stephen D. LaCroix
Stephen David LaCroix, 39, of Saco, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Maine Medical Center in Portland surrounded by family.
Steve was an incredible son, brother, father and friend. His kindness and sense of humor gave him the ability to connect with people from all walks of life, leaving a positive impact on everyone he encountered. His most cherished role though, his reason to live, was being a dedicated, loving father to his three children.
He found great happiness with every moment that he spent with his children, Gavyn, Dylan and Alyssa, and his fiancé Marin. Their soon-to-be born son will now be affectionately named Stephen Maverick LaCroix. His family was his life.
Steve was born in Portland on February 3, 1986, a son of David LaCroix and Gail Ann (Chasse) LaCroix.
He graduated from Old Orchard Beach High School, class of 2004. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he studied Avionics and graduated in the top of his class. After serving a deployment in Qatar, his love for airplanes led him back home to Brunswick Naval Air Station where he specialized in servicing the P-3 Orion aircraft.
After his time in the military, Steve went to work for Texas Instruments where his career spanned for 15 years until his untimely passing.
Steve shared with his kids his love for the outdoors in all seasons. In the winter he would take them skiing every chance he got, and in the warmer months you could find them jetskiing, waterskiing, or riding dirt bikes and 4-wheelers. You could also find him in the garage working on his passion project: restoring a square body muscle truck. Steve spent countless days restoring that truck with his boys, passing the same skills he learned from his father, David, down to his own kids. Steve also loved long distance running and playing poker with his buddies.
With Steve's passing we remind ourselves and others his life is to be celebrated. His warm and welcoming spirit and his infectious sense of humor will leave a lasting impression. Although we will miss him every day, he will remain in our hearts forever.
He was predeceased by his mother Gail A. LaCroix.
Steve is survived by his father David LaCroix and Cheryl Bedard, sister Lisa LaCroix, children Gavyn LaCroix, Dylan LaCroix and Alyssa LaCroix, fiancé Marin Murphy, and soon-to-be born- Baby Stephen Maverick LaCroix. He is also survived by many loving extended family members that he cared so deeply for.
Visitation will be from 12-3PM with a Service at 3PM Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James Street, Saco. Burial with military honors will be private at a later date.
