Steve Linzey died unexpectedly, and the heaviness of many hearts is somewhat comforted as we reflect on the man he was.
Steve Linzey was proud of his origins in the Bronx, and being raised in his revered Parkchester community formed the foundation of the visionary, energetic, ever-creative, gregarious and tender-hearted man Steve grew to become. Steve credited the strength of his father's integrity and commitment to raising him and Jimmy, his brother, as key to his own strong work ethic and moral compass.
Known for his quick wit, Steve always had a joke at the ready, and was a consummate storyteller! His love of fun and entrepreneurial spirit drew him to lifelong work in the amusement industry. His skill and expertise grew from working carnivals to building and managing family amusement parks to inventing arcade games, running his beloved routes in the tri-state area.
Steve's heart to make a mark in the world led to a life always looking for ways to help anyone in need, whether it was to fix or build something, find the humor in any situation, or guide our own vision to see the deeper meaning to life's serendipitous curveballs. Steve made lifelong connections throughout his various endeavors, and his integrity and forthrightness made him a source of strength for all who knew him.
Steve is survived by his beloved nephew, Kevin. Touching lives in meaningful and funny ways, Steve will be deeply mourned by loved ones, friends, and colleagues.. thanks for SO many memories, Steve!
A memorial will be held at Riggs Funeral Home, 130 North Main Street (Route 9), Forked River, NJ 08731, on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 1:00 p.m.to 4:00 p.m., with a time of shared remembrances starting at 2:30 p.m.
