Stephen Witten Litz, age 83, went to his heavenly home on November 9, 2024, at Friends of Hospice Serenity House in Morristown, TN. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was saved at the age of 12 at First Baptist Church Morristown. Stephen was a faithful member of Buffalo Trail Baptist Church for many years where he served as a deacon, bus driver, on several committees, and on Disaster Relief teams. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Korea, Key West, FL., and Fort Sill, OK. After the military, he was a machinist owning his own machine shop, Litz Co., for many years. In his later years, he was a realtor for Century 21 where he made many special friends. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, and taking his family on vacations. He was a quiet, kind, and selfless man who would do anything for anyone.
Stephen is preceded in death by his father, George W. Litz; mother, Eliza Burkey Litz; and sister, Pam Litz.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Peggy Hoover Litz; son, Stephen Michael Litz; daughter, Emily (Ernie) Noe; grandchildren, Timothy Isaiah Litz, Hannah Grace Noe, Sarah Elizabeth Noe, Caleb Andrew Noe; great-granddaughter, Zaydian; as well as many special cousins, family, and friends.
The family would like to say a special thank you to caregiver Janet Cooper, Smoky Mountain Hospice, and Friends of Hospice Serenity House.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to Buffalo Trail Baptist Church or Serenity House.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Buffalo Trail Baptist Church from 4-6PM. Followed by a Celebration of Life service at 6PM, with Dr. Keith Mowery and Dr. Dean Haun officiating. A Graveside service will take place Thursday, November 14, 2024, at 11AM, in Jarnagin Cemetery.
