Stephen Paul "Sam" McGinnis

Belton, SC

With heavy hearts, but joyous memories, we celebrate the life of Stephen Paul McGinnis, age 62, who passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Friday, September 26, 2025. Born on August 7, 1963, in Mount Holly, NJ, Stephen Paul "Sam" McGinnis was a son of the late Thomas S. and Mary Jane Wood McGinnis. He lived a life filled with adventure, family, and unwavering faith.

Stephen, affectionately known as "Sam," was a true lover of the outdoors. He spent countless hours riding his beloved Victory Motorcycle, feeling the wind in his hair and the freedom of the open road. Sam had a special passion for deer hunting, particularly at his cherished deer castle, where laughter and stories abounded.

Above all, Sam's love for his family knew no bounds. He is survived by his devoted spouse, Tammy Ryder McGinnis, his adoring children-Misty Adams (Zeke), Timothy A. McGinnis, II (Sara Hood), and Melissa Hutto (Jonathan)-his brothers Joe and Mike McGinnis, and sister Kate Frasier. Sam was also a proud grandfather of 13 grandchildren who will forever carry his playful spirit and warmth in their hearts.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Richard McGinnis and a brother, Timothy A. McGinnis.

A faithful servant to God, Sam was highly involved in his church community, participating in ministries from AWANAs to youth groups and the Young at Heart as well as the Nehemiah Team. He found joy in sharing his faith and supporting others, riding with the Patriot Guard in honor of veterans-an expression of both love and respect for those who served.

An expert machinist, Sam was well-known for his craftsmanship and skills, bringing creativity and precision to every project he touched. A diehard Gamecock fan, he loved to share jokes and laughter with everyone around him, leaving a mark of joy wherever he went.

Sam's family looks forward to celebrating his remarkable life and invites everyone to join them for a gathering in his honor. A memorial service hosted by the family will be held at 5:00 PM, Monday, September 29, 2025 at Trinity Baptist Church in Williamston, SC. As we gather together to remember Sam, let us share our stories, laughter, and love-just as he would have wanted. Rest in peace, dear Sam. Your spirit continues to inspire us all.
