"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."- 2 Timothy 4:7
Stephen Lee McNett, born May 2, 1951, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, in Houston, Texas, after a courageous battle with ALS.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Richard and Gloria McNett. Stephen was a 1969 graduate of Snider High School and went on to earn a degree in Computer Engineering from Ivy Tech.
A proud veteran, Stephen served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was honored with the National Defense Service Medal for his service to the country.
Following his military service, Stephen built a successful career in technology, working for many years in Houston with Texas Instruments and Hewlett-Packard. He was admired by colleagues for his sharp intellect, strong work ethic, and calm, dependable presence.
Stephen is survived by his two devoted sisters, Sandra (Jerry) Chapman of Tennessee and Karen (Bruce) Silvers of Fort Wayne, Indiana. He also leaves behind his cherished godchildren, Jonathan Wade-Washington and Brittany Osborne, along with numerous extended family members and friends who were deeply touched by his life.
Stephen's kindness, strength, and unwavering love will forever remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind. His family and friends will miss him deeply but will continue to honor his memory with the same warmth and compassion he showed throughout his life.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at the VA Cemetery in Houston, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Stephen's name to the ALS Association or a veterans' organization of your choice.
