It is with heavy hearts we announce a permanent address change for Stephen J. Myers Jr., who went home to be with his Lord on August 4 at the age of 85.

He was born July 5, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois and grew up in a family of newspaper owners. Because of love of newspapers, he went into the field of investigative journalism. He received many awards and recognition for his in-depth articles.

In the early part of 1970, he gave his heart to Jesus and immediately went into service for God. He was ordained in late 1970 and traveled extensively establishing churches and leading others into the love and knowledge of Jesus Christ. He pastored a church in Syracuse, New York before moving to Vandergrift, PA where he retired. Although retired from ministry he remained involved in various activities in the church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Gloria (Brooks) Myers. His sons Christopher, Mark, Scott, and Jonathan as well as a daughter Kimberly Humphrey. He was the grandfather of 13 and great grandfather of 16. He was preceded in death by his father Stephen J. Myers, Sr, mother Grace Irene (Lickes) Myers and his daughter Andrea (Myers) Polonia.

He was a man of great integrity, kindness, generosity and had a wonderful sense of humor. His memory will leave a lasting impact on everyone.

A funeral service will be held At First Baptist Church Upper Burrell. Viewing will be Friday from 6-8 PM and Saturday from 1-3 with the Service immediately following. Steve will be buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Gilpin Township. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church of Upper Burrell, 3740 Seventh Street Road, New Kensington, PA 15068.
