Stephen A. Perillo, 91, of Amsterdam, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025 at his home with his loving daughters at his side.

Born in Amsterdam, NY on March 15, 1934, a son of the late Arthur and Jean Belkowski Perillo. He was a lifelong area resident and attended Christian Brothers Academy and was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam.

Stephen was a US Navy Veteran from 1952 to 1956. He served aboard a Destroyer the USS Bearss and Aircraft Carrier the USS Intrepid. He also served in the Army and Air National Guard for a time.

Steve worked for the former Mohasco Industries in Amsterdam and the US Navy Depot in Scotia, NY. He then became a Capital Police Officer in Albany, NY and was a dedicated officer for over 20 years retiring in 1989. He was credited for saving a life and received a citation for his service. He was also a Hospice Volunteer for 23 years and was the Community Hospice Volunteer of the year in 2010.

His dedication to his community and family was his passion in life. He enjoyed playing Softball for the former Burza's Tavern Team in Amsterdam. He was an avid fan of the Amsterdam Rugged Rams Football Team and developed a close relationship with Pat Liverio, who was the head coach. Stephen cherished his weekly breakfast date with his grandson, that they did for years.

He is Roman Catholic and was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Amsterdam. Steve was also a member of the John J. Wyszomirski Post #701 in Amsterdam and the USS Intrepid Museum.

Stephen married Patricia Ann Perillo on March 3, 1957, she passed away on August 29, 2014. They enjoyed 57 years of marriage.

Survivors include his daughters, Lisa G. (Bill) Wyszomirski of Amsterdam and Stephanie (Ivan) Perillo of Amsterdam. Two cherished grandchildren, Garin L. and Troy W. Wyszomirski of Amsterdam. A sister Nancy Rogers of Amsterdam. Nieces and nephew, Priscilla Rogers and Paul (Denise) Rogers of Amsterdam. He was predeceased by his brother Louis Perillo.

No funeral services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rose & Hughes Funeral Home, 200 Church St., Amsterdam, NY 12010. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Montgomery County SPCA, 1232 State Hwy 5S, Amsterdam, NY 12010 or to Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care, 108 Steele Ave, Gloversville, NY 12078.
