With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Stephen E. Sammons also lovingly known as "Pizza Steve", died Tuesday, June 12, 2025, in Duncan.
He was born on February 2, 1961, in Stuttgart Germany, to Wallace and Bettie (Avery) Sammons. As a young boy, Stephen moved with his military family to various Army posts, including Germany, Africa, Ethiopia, Greece, Ft. Hood, Ft. Belvoir and Ft. Sill. Stephen graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1979 where he was in the band.
Shortly after graduation he began his lifelong pizza career beginning with Pizza Inn working his way up to manager. In 1991, he moved to Duncan to join in the partnership of owner and operator of Pizza -n-Stuff, alongside his father then later is brother, David. You could always find "Pizza Steve" at the register talking to customers, catching up with ol' friends and making new ones or making pizzas. He did whatever it took to make the business thrive, his dedication was evident.
Steve was also a dedicated Oklahoma Sooner sports fan, extremely passionate about OU football. He could often be found cheering on the Sooners in his mancave with a few friends or at a football game on Saturdays.
Steve loved spending time with his family and friends. He rooted for them, worried about them and genuinely loved each one of them. He was so proud of his stepdaughter Madi and her animation accomplishments. He enjoyed listening to 80s music and taking in a few concerts with his stepson Mason. Although Steve is gone, he will live in our hearts forever.
Stephen is survived by his wife Becky of the home; step daughter Madison Hocker, step son Mason Hocker ; two brothers and two sister in laws, David and Andrea Sammons and Mark and Bridget Sammons; three nieces, Brittany, Lauren, Ashley; 2 nephews, Justin and Collin. 3 great nephews and 2 great nieces.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, sister Kathy Ingram and an older brother, Michael Sammons.
Visitation to be held Tuesday June 17th at Bailes-Polk Funeral home 910 W Oak Ave, Duncan, OK and visitation with the family Wednesday June 18th 4:00- 600.
A memorial service will be held Thursday June 19th 11:00 at Ray of Hope Church, Hwy 81 & Refinery Road, Comanche, OK 73529 with Matt Chambers officiating.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Lawton following the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society in memory of Stephen Sammons.
