Stephen (Steve) Roy Solovitz, 76, of Lakeland, FL, died peacefully in his sleep on Friday, December 8th, 2023. Following his college studies at Washington University he moved to Minneapolis, MN with his wife Carol, where they raised a family.
After later moves to Fargo, ND, and Rochester, MN, Steve, and Carol settled in Lakeland, where Steve achieved his lifelong dream of joining Disney as a cast member. He applied his passion for photography to capture special moments for guests at Walt Disney World for nearly 20 years, displaying his talents until his final days.
Steve was known for bringing joy to those around him. At home, school, church, and work, he provided a spirit that entertained and inspired others. He had an amazing sense of humor, finding the perfect, creative way to make people laugh. He touched lives and created memories in every place he lived.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Carol, and his two sons and their spouses: Stephen and Willow of Portland, OR, and Daniel and Nerissa of Cottage Grove, MN. He is greatly missed by his three grandsons: Rowan, Leander, and Oscar. He is also survived by his mother, Evangeline, and his sisters, Claudia (Larry) Ochonicky and Susan Keene.
A memorial will be held at Reformation Lutheran Church in Lakeland on December 23, 2023, at 2:00pm. A further celebration of life will be planned in the Midwest in the spring or summer of 2024.

God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. I will always remember Steve at our Carolwood events; he really enjoyed being with fellow Disney train enthusiasts.

Steve always enjoyed going to Disney events and sharing his experiences . We happened to be in California for the D23 the same weekend and walked through some of the displays together.
A great man and a great love of Disney. He will be missed by all.

The memories are many, as co peer, and friend who shared the love of Disney, and other facets of history. The Walt Disney Railroad was a favorite, and went to the annual Carolwood UnMeetings held at WDW each fall. These weekends were special as "legends" of the company would attend and share their stories. It was a joy just to visit our parks and forget the serious stuff.

For me Steve leaves a legacy of being a kind man. I never heard him say anything negative about anyone. Before he'd leave the office he always said goodbye to me individually. He was excited about spending Thanksgiving with family this year. He would laugh at everyone's joke and usually started a conversation with, 'Here's the deal". We had the same parking spot every morning next to each other. It's odd not to see his car there. He will be greatly missed.

Such an honor it will be to share the story of his proposal to Carol as part of my homily at his memorial service.
