Stephen Vieira, "Steve" passed away on April 9, 2025. Steve was born October 27, 1951 in Mt. Kisco, NY to Laura Baffi-Vieira and Albert Vieira. He attended St. Francis Elementary in Mt. Kisco, NY from kindergarten through 8th grade, then he attended Stepinac High School in White Plains, NY. He graduated from Farmingdale College in 1971 with a degree in horticulture. He grew up in his grandfather's garden where he discovered his passion for growing vegetables, flowers and planting trees.
After college, Steve started his own business providing landscape design services. Landscape Unlimited, Inc. was incorporated in 1984. As competent as he was in providing landscape design services, he was bound for greater things. He was approached with a job opportunity which required the use of machinery he wasn't familiar with. He decided to try it out and that was when the "equipment operator" was discovered. His passion for botanicals and horticulture remained, but he changed his business focus to excavation and site work. 20 years ago, he completed a job for a school district creating their ball fields and drainage. This is where he found the "field" he wanted to specialize in. Over the last 20 years, he has completed over 100 ballfields in the area along with other excavation projects.
He was rough around the edges with a generous heart. He loved his garden, feeding birds & wildlife, power lifting and politics. He holds the USA Powerlifting, NYS Record for the "oldest strongman" since 2023. Most of the people who knew him have tasted his amazing garden vegetables. Walk through his property and you would feel like you are walking through the botanical gardens.
He is survived by his wife, Eugenia Vieira; his children, Mark Vieira, Nicholas Vieira, Leandra (Brian) Bradley & Peter Vieira; his grandchildren, Antonio Vieira, Isabella Zamparelli, Joseph Bradley, Dominick Vieira & Nathaniel Bradley; his siblings, David Vieira & Laura Vieira-Suarez and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his son, Nathaniel Vieira.
Steve's family will receive friends on Sunday, April 13, 2025 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 14, 2025 at 11:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 2 Green Street, Mount Kisco, NY.
The Family has requested that the Cemetery Service be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, Friends of Karen or Feeding Westchester Food Bank in Steve's memory.
