God called Sterling L. Lucabaugh's name on May 24th on his heavenly roll call. Sterling was a very gifted man for 83 years, with a love of God and a love of life that always showed on his face. He always knew he was blessed. He was retired, but no one knew it. He loved to work around his farm. He really loved his John Deere tractor. He would mow and mow. He loved to stop his farmers, Merill and Stanley, and talk about farming, or call his brother David and talk about farming. He was a farm boy growing up and loved farming. He worked 36 years as a tool and die maker at Amp and New Standard and was a bus driver for 13 years for Dallastown.
Sterling leaves his soulmate and best friend, who adored him, Mary Elizabeth. Writing this is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do in my life, so sorry about the teardrops that got on the paper. I will miss all the laughter and fun. I will miss him going with me to the fishing hole while he watched me fish. He knew nothing about fishing. I know nothing about farming. We started life together 32 years ago with a blended family. Sterling has three sons John Lucabaugh (wife Kristi), Todd Lucabaugh (fiancé Charlene), Troy Lucabaugh (wife Chris), blended daughter Traci Rosbrook (husband AJ) blended son John H. Venable Jr. (wife Angie) also there were not enough kids so in 2010 from Kenya Africa three more came into our life Ian, Lee and Michele Kamar. We were very blessed to have them all. Sterling is survived by his brother David. He was predeceased by his sister Darlene Hershey in 2019. Also, we have 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Sterling loved all his friends and was a people person who cared about his family.
Per Sterling's wishes, there will be a private service at Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc. in Dallastown.
Thank you to all his dear friends for always making him laugh on all the bus trips around the USA. All of you made life wonderful for Sterling, and I thank all of you. Listen, do you hear that? Yes, the Lord already has Sterling mowing; now he is a blessed farmer.
Love,
Mary Elizabeth Lucabaugh
