Steve Norman Campbell, the eldest son of the union between Ursula Campbell and James Campbell, was born March 7, 1960, in Lambeau, Trinidad and Tobago. He made his transition June 13, 2024, at his home in Manassas Park, Virginia.
Steve as a young man emigrated to the United States in 1976. Settling in Fairfax, Virginia, he graduated from Oakton High School in 1978. Steve then joined the US Marine Corps as a Combat Engineer where he earned many awards such as the Rifle Marksman Badge and Good Conduct medal. After his honorable discharge as a veteran, Steve began working for Fairfax County Public Works while he gained professional training and licensing as a Master Refrigeration and A/C Mechanic Specialist from Lincoln Technical Institute. He also attended Northern Virginia Community College. Steve then married his wife Teresa Brown in 1987. He became a US naturalized citizen in 1989. In 1991 Steve and Teresa welcomed the joyous birth of their son Steven. Steve also worked as a maintenance technician for the hospitality industry before pursuing his dream of being a small business owner.
Steve became an entrepreneur and started his business, S&N Household Maintenance & Repairs. His business clientele consisted of realty companies and a solid base of regular customers. This also became a labor of love for Steve as he helped many friends and family with home improvements and general household repairs. Being the perfectionist that he was, Steve, as an army of "one", built a sunroom, finished a basement, and constructed a deck for his family home. There were many happy family moments in these spaces.
Steve had a variety of interests. He loved watching professional football; traveling the country; honing his professional skills by researching YouTube videos about home repair; and eating the perfect meal. He also enjoyed finishing his meals with his wife Teresa's pound cakes and famous pineapple upside-down cake. He genuinely enjoyed his daily walks where he would fellowship with neighbors, friends, and local business owners. As a dear uncle he cherished the holidays and family functions spent with his nephew Joseph Flowers and niece Katelyn Perkins. Honorable mention to his partners in crime for over three decades, Daniel Perkins and Carl Flowers, with whom Steve often talked with about the three "Brown Sisters". Steve felt truly blessed over the last four decades for the love and support from his mother-in-law Lucy Brown and sister-in-law Karen Flowers.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, James Campbell, and mother, Ursula (Solomon) Campbell.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Teresa L. (Brown) Campbell of Manassas Park, VA; son, Steven Andrew Campbell stationed in Okinawa, Japan; two sisters, Alison Andrews of Bon Accord, Tobago; and Dr. Patsy Campbell-Puifory (Darren) of Fort Washington, MD; two brothers, Harvey Campbell (Sabina) of Charles Town, WV; and Curtis Campbell (Karla) of Chesapeake, VA; nephews and nieces: Joseph Flowers; Katelyn Perkins; Curtis, Christopher, and Karen Campbell; Kevin and Jason Campbell; and many dear relatives and cherished friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the memory of Steve to the "Steve N. Campbell Memorial", P.O. Box 604, Manassas Park, VA 20113 or inquire at [email protected].
