Steve James Cowles

Steve James Cowles, 59, of Carrollton, a free spirit and a lover of life, passed away Saturday, August 9th, at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital surrounded by his family. Born in Canton, on January 2, 1966, a son of the late James Cowles and Louise Beggs. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother John Cowles. Steve worked as a machinist for M.K. Morse for over 28 years prior to retiring. He was known for his excellent work ethic and dedication. He lived loud, laughed often, and enjoyed life to the fullest. A restless soul and a heart wired to the rhythm of rock n' roll, Steve was an avid lover of Ozzy Osbourne, as well as Kid Rock. Music wasn't just a part of his life- it was his compass, his comfort, and his rebellion. He had a knack for turning even the most ordinary moments into something worth remembering, often with a cold beer in hand and a smile that said, "Big Babbby!", his signature catch phrase. Steve believed in living, not just existing. Steve enjoyed a good party, Sunday morning oldies with his coffee and black Chevy. Steve also enjoyed skull themes, was very artistic, and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Above all, Steve was a great and loving father. He loved deeply and without reservation. Whether it was grilling on the weekends, taking family trips to New York, or spending time with his grandchildren, he was most at home surrounded by those he loved. Survived by 2 daughters Stevi (Ray Welch) Cowles; Brandi (Keith) Evans; sister Debbie (Lynn) Carnahan; brother David Cowles; 7 grandchildren; 2 nephews Sam Carnahan and Jake (Jake) Carnahan; as well as other loving family members and friends.
