With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Steve Gamez, a devoted father, grandfather, partner, brother, and friend, who left us in Spring, Texas on May 17, 2025. Born on October 23, 1959, Steve lived a life filled with music, love, and unwavering loyalty to those he held dear.
A gifted guitarist and lifelong musician, Steve's passion for music was not just a career-it was his calling. He poured his heart into every note and touched countless lives through his talent, warmth, and charismatic presence. Whether on stage or in the living room, his music and magnetic spirit brought joy to all who knew him.
Steve was known for his kind heart, loyal spirit, and magnetic personality. Above all, family was the most important part of his life. His love for those closest to him was deep and unwavering, and he was endlessly proud of his children and grandchildren.
Steve is survived by his daughter, Jessica Gleason and husband Brandon Gleason; his son, Scott Dodson and wife Alison Dodson; his beloved grandchildren, Blake Widon, Tyson Widon, Mark Dodson, Hunter Gleason, Hudson Gleason, Danica Dodson, and Aubrey Pillow. He is also survived by his life partner, Alana Trawick, and his loving siblings Judy and Michael Morphy, Larry Gamez, Cindy and Gary Waller, Jacob and Emma Gamez, Tom and Pamela Gamez; multiple cousins, nieces, and nephews who will miss him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Dora and Gilbert Gamez, and his brothers, Andy Gamez and Gilbert Gamez Jr.
Steve was known for his kindness, steadfast loyalty, and the kind of loving nature that made everyone feel like family. His legacy lives on in the music he made, the people he loved, and the memories he gifted us all.
A funeral service will be held on June 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Eickenhorst Funeral Home, 12412 FM 2854 Rd, Conroe, TX 77304. All who knew and loved Steve are welcome to attend and celebrate his remarkable life. Steve's family is hosting a Celebration of Life following his service at Backwoods Saloon, 230 Lexington Ct. Conroe, Texas 77385 at 1:00 pm – for anyone who would like to join.
