Our family is overwhelmed with sorrow as we announce the sudden passing of our daughter, Anabella Gamez on June 28, 2025, at the age of 21.
Bella was born on January 28, 2004. She is the third daughter of Alfred and Anabel Gamez and baby sister to Aminta and Araceli Gamez.
At 15 months of age, Anabella was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 2. The prognosis for children diagnosed with SMA Type 2 is grim. Bella would experience a progressive weakness of her muscles that led to several health complications and render her wheelchair bound. Throughout her life, Bella would be seen by various specialized doctors in the hopes of slowing the progression of muscle weakness and extending her life expectancy.
The challenges and limitations she experienced did not keep her from living her best life. On several occasions we witnessed Anabella ending her prayers with " I'm so happy I was born" or " I love my life."
She was never sad or upset about being disabled. Bella was thankful, she was kind, she loved animals, she was empathetic, soft spoken and gentle, mentally strong, smart, courageous, funny, emotionally intelligent, spiritual, she was an amazing human being.
We feel honored that God chose us to be her family.
Anabella's life will be beautifully remembered by her parents, Alfred and Anabel, her sisters Aminta and Araceli Gamez.
She is so loved by her big extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins: Bill Gamez, Randy and Brenda (Brittany and Brandy), Conrad Cantu (Emma and Gage), Betty Jo and Andrew Flores (Ameriz and Ace), JJ and Erica Cantu (Alyssa and Johnny).
Catarino and Leslie Lopez (Daniel and Benjamin), Isabel and Marty Lopez (Isabel, Sofia, Gabriela, Ari and Marco) and grandparents, Catarino and Aminta Lopez.
We are confident that Bella is safe and secure in Heaven.
We are also sure that her grandparents Alfred and Alice Gamez, aunt Sylvia, uncle Eddie Capelo, cousin Spencer DelTorro, Godfather Perfecto Terrazas Jr. and many more family and friends are with Anabella welcoming her to Heaven. She is loved by Jesus and surrounded by people who love her.
A Memorial will be held at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South on Sunday, July 13, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. A prayer service will take place during the Memorial Service at 7:00 pm, followed by a eulogy from the family.
