He was born on October 2, 1957, in French Camp, California to the late Thomas Dean Whiteside and Anna Mae Burke Whiteside.
In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his son, Steven Whiteside, Jr.; brother, Craig Whiteside; sister, Paulette Whiteside; and grandson, Travis Fox.
He is survived by his wife, Marianne Green of Gleason; son, Jeff Whiteside (Malinda) of Gleason; daughter, Tylean Fox of Gleason; and five grandchildren, Shane Whiteside, Kaydon Whiteside, Makayla Whiteside, Danika Whiteside and Garrett Fox. Other survivors include nephew, Dino White; niece, Deana Mae Herrera; and mother of two grandchildren, Christina Whiteside.
