Steven Sherwin Burr passed away peacefully at home on August 19, 2025, at the age of 76, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Jean (Brewer); his daughter, Suzanne (Lindsay) Peters; and his cherished granddaughters, Gabriella and Athena (Lopez).
He was preceded in death by his infant daughters, Stephanie and Shelly; his parents, Sherwin and Elaine (Tollefson) Burr; his sister, Sheralyn (Sherry) Dupree; his nephews, Michael and Andrew Burr, Evan and Eric Brewer; his niece, Jennifer Garibaldi; and his sister-in-law, Susan Burr.
Steve is also survived by many beloved cousins and dear friends. Though too numerous to name, each one knows how deeply he loved them.
He earned an Associate Degree in Water and Wastewater Technology and dedicated 20 years of service as a Wastewater Plant Operator for the City of Waukesha.
Steve was an avid golfer who, on August 2, 2022, achieved a hole-in-one at Pebble Beach Golf Resort on the 12th hole, with his daughter proudly watching. He also enjoyed motorcycling, traveling through Europe, cruising the Caribbean, and especially visiting his favorite destination, Alaska. He was a proud member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post 375, in Mukwonago, WI.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the nurses of ProHealth Care Hospice for their loving care, and to Doctors Elizabeth Miller, Ariel Kleman, and Zachary Fridirici for their support. A special thank you goes to his cousin, Lois (Goetzke), whose weekly visits always brought a smile to his face.
A private burial will be held.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at the Mukwonago American Legion, Post 375, at 1:30PM.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Steve’s memory.
Please consider a donation as requested by the family.
