Steven Wayne Campbell (January 4, 1960– December 5, 2023)
Died courageously on December 5 th, fighting a four year battle with cancer.
Steve was very much beloved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Steve always had a smile on his face, an Eddie Murphy laugh, was a debater of politics,
quick witted, had a wicked sense of humor and was a football fanatic. He was a lifelong
football fan for the Wellsville Tigers, The Washington Redskins, and The Ohio State
Buckeyes. Steve graduated from Wellsville High School in 1978 and he worked for
many years at Waterford Race Track and Bruce Mansfield Power plant before moving
to Florida where he worked at Disney World in Orlando. While living in Florida, Steve
shared his life with his partner, Darryl Melton, who preceded him in death in 2022.
Steve was a lover of the band Boston and lived by the motto, "Don't Look Back". He
loved Eddie Murphy and Tyler Perry's Madea movies and loved to laugh and was quick
to get you to join in the fun with him. Steve prided himself on being a lifelong "River Rat"
and loved being on the water as the Ohio River was his backyard growing up. He
enjoyed many hours spending time on the water with family and friends.
Steve leaves behind his grieving family and friends and was preceded in death by his
Mother, Mary Campbell, Father Charles Campbell, Brothers Charles and Gary, and
Brother-in-laws Roy "Eugene" Sprouse and Robert Freeman. He is survived by His
Sisters, Patricia Sprouse, Judy Freeman, Karen (Charles) Crews, Sharon Campbell,
Cheryl (Ken) Bissell and Brother James Campbell. He also leaves behind many nieces
and nephews.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank Hospice for all their care and
assistance. There will be no formal services as per Steve's request, but the family will
hold a memorial celebration of Steve's life at a later date.
Rest well Brother Until we meet again.
