Steven "Dirty" DeVaughn Cheatwood died unexpectedly at his home in Temple Terrace, FL on June 24, 2024 at the age of 52.
Steven is survived by his mother, Sandee Stack; his children, Felicia Rochelle Cheatwood, Steven DeVaughn Cheatwood II, Scott Devin Cheatwood, and Samson David Cheatwood; his brothers, James Warren Cheatwood (Erin) and Jonathan Grady Stack (Amber); his granddaughter, Jaylee Aaliyah Brewton; his nephews and niece, Sean Cheatwood, Liam Cheatwood, Kai Stack and Waylan Stack; his best friend and cousin, Mike Dorman; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Steven was born on June 25, 1971 in South Gate, California. He moved to Florida at a young age and has been a resident of the Tampa Bay area for over 30 years.
Steve was an entrepreneur and has owned part in numerous businesses. Although it closed its' doors in 2017, he was most proud of his ownership in Copper Top Pub, which was best known for its "cheap beer and the best wings in town". He was an avid pool shooter and quite often challenged to a game by the best of them. He was also quite the handyman and could fix or build just about anything. Steve enjoyed spending time with friends and family alike, and was always the life of the party. One thing about Steve is that he always had a smile on his face and he never met a stranger. Steve was a kind-hearted person and would help anyone in need. He was always there to lend a hand or an ear. He was full of life and laughter and brought joy to all with whom he crossed paths. His huge heart, zest for life and adventure, and radiating smile will be missed by all!
Steven's wishes were to be cremated. There will be a memorial service to celebrate his life on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 1 p.m. at East Chelsea Baptist Church, located at 7225 E. Chelsea St., Tampa, FL 33610. The church will be receiving flowers and food. The family welcomes all to attend and celebrate Steve's life. A GoFundMe has been set up on FaceBook to help his children with expenses. The family would like to extend a Thank You to all who have contributed to the GoFundMe, to Mike Dorman and Kenny Dorman, and to everyone for their support during this time.
