It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Steven Carrol Clow, a husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Born on January 8, 1948, Steve was the son of Carrol and Idella (Ostenson) Clow. He spent his early years in Elbow Lake, attending and graduating from Elbow Lake High School in 1966. Steve furthered his education at Wadena Technical School. He also served his country in the Army Reserves for 6 years.
On December 28, 1971, Steve married Susan (Knutson), and together they raised two children, Chad and Amy. As a highly regarded mechanic, Steve's expertise was recognized throughout the community, leading him to a career at Minnesota Motors until his retirement in 2010. Steve was a dedicated member of his community. He served on the Elbow Lake Fire Department, earning the role of fire chief for 2 years. Steve was also an active participant in the Elks Club in Fergus Falls and the Ashby American Legion Post 357, finding great joy in working at the Legion's fish fries.
In his free time, Steve enjoyed fishing and hunting. His passion for maintaining a pristine lawn and an immaculate John Deere tractor was unmatched. He also showed generosity to his neighbors by helping with lawn mowing and snow removal.
Steve cherished the time spent with his brother Mitchell, sister Beth, children, and grandchildren. Known for being a man of few words, Steve's quiet strength, integrity, and generosity left a profound impact on everyone who knew him.
In 1989, Steve and Suzy made Fergus Falls their home, where Steve continued to live until he passed on January 29, 2025.
Steve is survived by his wife Suzy, his loving children Chad (Karla) and Amy (Ron) Erickson, grandchildren, Erik, Ella, Maren and Makayla, great grandson Ezra, brother Mitchell (Janet), sister Beth Palm, sister-in-law, Patti (Gordon) Thorstenson, DeeDee (Pete) Amstutz, and many dear family members and friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his father Carrol Clow, mother, Idella Clow, father-in-law Gordon Knutson, mother-in-law Donna Knutson, sister-in-law Barbara Dyrhaug, nephew Vaughn Thorstenson and his very special dog Ralphie.
A celebration of Steve's life will be held to honor his memory on February 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Glende-Nilson Funeral home.
Steve will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
