Steven DeCarr, 62, passed away at Massena Hospital on September 7th.
He was affectionately known and a shining light in anyone’s life who had the privilege of knowing him.
Steven was born on October 11, 1962, in Ogdensburg, NY, the son of Lyndon and Beverly King DeCarr. He was educated at Hammond Central School and had worked for FX Caprara in Alexandria Bay since he was 18.
Steven also pursued his dreams and moved to Montana to become a hunting guide instructor. He also owned a restaurant and bar in Theresa, New York at one time. Steven loved bartending. Many of his best years were spent doing what he loved.
Steven graced his way through every obstacle thrown at him and always welcomed everyone with a smile without a doubt. He was a true beacon, and staple of this community. He taught to love thy neighbor with singing the Canadian national anthem “O Canada” every morning.
In his free time he loved to fish and hunt, he loved MMA, riding his Harley and enjoying bike weeks, taking his boats out on the river, watching sports especially Hammond Central School sports and the Boston Bruins. He loved to play every sport but more specifically golf, basketball, and hockey. Going to concerts was a great past time, he especially loved music and Alan Jackson. His spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, for decades to come.
Steven is survived by his daughters Courtney Lamb, Henderson, NY, and Hannah Preston, Ogdensburg; brothers Larry DeCarr, Cooperstown, and Billy, Syracuse, NY; and sister Cathy DeCarr, Clayton, NY.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, September 14th from 1-3 pm at the Costello Funeral Home, Alexandria Bay. A memorial service will begin at 3:00 pm at the funeral home with Reverend Jeff McIlrath, Pastor of the Reformed Church of the 1000 Isles, officiating.
