Steven Anthony Devante Blount, 30, was called home to Glory on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. Steven, loving son of Curita Louise Hughes and Kenneth Maurice Blount, was born on August 29, 1992, in South Bend, IN.
Steven was a hardworking, compassionate, and humble young man. Steven accepted Christ at an early age. Before Steven's passing, he attended Traders Point Christian Church in Indianapolis, IN, and actually rededicated his life to Christ on the morning of his passing.
Steven resided in Indianapolis for the majority of his life. He graduated from Pike High School in 2011 and whilst attending Pike, Steven participated in ROTC and Aviation courses. Steven also studied abroad in London for one summer. Steven continued his studies at Indiana State University, graduating in December 2016 with a double degree in Aviation Management and Criminal Justice.
Steven deeply enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking, playing pool, playing basketball, going to the gym, telling jokes, going to the movies; Steven was a Star Wars and Syfy fanatic! Steven also loved listening to music, traveling, and helping others. Steven worked at Department of Child Services, where he dedicated his time ensuring child and family safety and well-being. Steven was committed to being a public servant. Prior to Steven's passing, he was accepted to be a Firefighter. Steven also held several other previous jobs: Juvenile Justice Center, FedEx, Resident Assistant,
Steven was preceded in death by his maternal family: grandfather, Steve Hughes; aunt, Emma (Mona) Woods; uncle, James Bryant; paternal family: grandparents, Evelyn Brown and Kenneth (Kenny) Blount; uncle, M.L. Brown.
Steven is survived by his mother, Curita Hughes of Greenwood, IN; father and stepmother Kenneth and Deidre Blount of Houston, TX; maternal grandmother Mary Jones of South Bend, IN; paternal step-grandmother Shirley Blount of South Bend, IN. Steven is also survived by his siblings, JayShara Hughes of Greenwood, IN, Kenneth Blount Jr. and Dee'Ani Blount of Houston, and TX, and stepbrother Tyreese Guiden II of Indianapolis, IN. Steven will also be missed by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Steven never met a
