Katherine M. Faust, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and teacher, passed away peacefully at the age of 70 on August 24th, 2025, in New Albany, Indiana. At the time that her loving Creator called her home, she was surrounded with love in the presence of her devoted family.
Katherine was born in Hinsdale, Illinois on September 7th, 1954 to her parents Jean (Hinckley) and Hutton Miller, who precede her in death. She is survived by her three children Nathan [Jaclyn] Faust, Sarah [Matt] Krusemark, and Emily [Tony] Faust and her five grandchildren: Heidi Faust; Logan and Nolan Russell; Daniel and Madelynn Krusemark. She is also survived by her two brothers, Steven [Paula] Miller and Bill [Karen] Miller, along with many loving friends and family who will forever treasure her memory.
Katherine was an intelligent, determined, compassionate woman of unrelenting faith and spirit. After graduating from Lyons Township High School in 1972, Katherine pursued further education with fervor, attending Drake University and Indiana State University before earning her master's degree in education from Indiana University Southeast – a proud accomplishment that reflected her passion for learning and growth.
Her career as an educator, most notably at North Harrison and Gant Line Elementary, was a testament to her commitment to nurturing young minds. Katherine instilled a love for learning in her students, guiding them with patience and insight. To her children, Katherine was more than just a mother; she was a source of inspiration, unwavering support, and encouragement. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She took immense pleasure in watching them grow and thrive.
Katherine was a devout Catholic, receiving the sacrament of Baptism in 1994 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Albany, Indiana. Through her life and throughout its seasons, she strove to be God’s instrument. In her leisure, she enjoyed reading, cheering her Chicago Cubs to victory, indulging in embroidery and knitting, and spending time with her family.
