Diane Uhteg Obituary

With grace and warmth, Diane M. Uhteg, 82, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly at her daughter’s home in Georgetown, Indiana, surrounded by the love that defined her life. In her final months, Diane was immersed in the joy of family—cherishing precious time with her children, grandchildren, and her new great-grandchild, whose arrival brought her immense delight.

Born to the late Teddy and Stephanie Zoltowski, Diane was a devout Catholic and lived a life rich in love, laughter, and connection. She was the devoted wife of Richard R. Uhteg for 57 beautiful years, and now joins him in heaven to dance a polka for eternity. Their bond was a testament to enduring love and partnership.

Diane was a proud and nurturing mother to Richard J. (Rebecca) Uhteg, Daniel (Maureen) Uhteg, Deanne (Troy) Seelye, and Donna Ketterer. She was the adored grandmother of ten, a loving presence to several step-grandchildren, and her legacy lives on in each of them.

She was preceded in death by her beloved brother Teddy Zoltowski, sister-in-law Patricia Scheuneman, brother-in-law Thomas Uhteg, and grandson, Joseph Uhteg. Diane’s memory will be lovingly carried forward additionally by Robert (Patricia) Uhteg, Debbie Uhteg, Richard Scheuneman, and a wide circle of nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

Diane’s life was filled with simple joys and spirited pursuits. She had a sharp mind for creating poems, solving crossword puzzles, a competitive streak in card games, and a sparkle in her eye when hunting for the next big bargain. She cherished dinners and shenanigans with her gal pals and treasured every moment spent with those she loved. Her warmth, humor, and generosity touched everyone she met.

A longtime resident of Buffalo and Clarence Center, New York, Diane brought light and laughter wherever she went. Her presence was a gift, and her absence leaves a tender space in the hearts of many.

Diane’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon on Saturday, September 6th at Our Lady Help of Christians, 4125 Union Rd, Cheektowaga, NY 14225. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Entombment will take place at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell where she will join her beloved husband, Richard.
