Steven "Steve" Draper, 69, of Clarendon Hills, at rest August 3, 2025
Steve was the beloved husband of Judith Draper and a devoted father to Bree Draper, Bryce Draper, Jorie Farley, Dan Farley, Brandon Draper, and Justin Draper. He was a proud grandfather to Joshua, Cara, Jordan, Colton, and Stevie. His love for his family extended beyond immediate relatives-he was a cherished brother to Rusty Draper, Denny Draper, Jennie Barajas, and Vikki Payne. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews who will remember him with deep affection.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary "Griddle" Draper and Donald "Pops" Draper.
Steve, also known as "Bert" by his family, had a love for baseball and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs. He found joy in watching little league baseball as well and sharing his love of the game with his mom, Mary, when she was alive. Playing softball was also a favorite pastime when he was younger, and even though it's been many years since he caught a 16 inch softball he loved to regale his family and friends with stories of many games played. Steve had a passion for playing horseshoes, and often competed in competitions with his brother Denny. His eyes lit up when he would recount how the competitions went and even built his own horseshoe pits in his backyard to practice. Country music often filled the background of his life's moments and many songs bring back fond memories for his children and wife-from making memories around a campfire to slow dances in the kitchen.
Known for his quick wit and signature dirty jokes that could light up any room, Steve brought laughter wherever he went. But beyond the humor was a man whose heart knew no bounds. He consistently put others before himself-especially his wife and family-and never hesitated to lend a hand to anyone in need. His selflessness defined him as much as his sense of humor did.
Steve's legacy is one of love freely given and care generously shared. He was not only a great father and grandfather but also a steadfast presence in the lives of those fortunate enough to know him.
May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him and continue to inspire acts of kindness in his honor.
