Steven “Stevie” Edward Durant, 65, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Chilton Medical Center in Pequannock, New Jersey. He was a loving father of three children and an adoring husband to his wife, Monica. Stevie was also a one-of-a-kind brother, uncle, and friend. Stevie was born on July 24th, 1960, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended Benjamin Franklin High School, where he then went on to participate in the Job Corps. It was then that he discovered his love for cooking and baking. In 1998, while working in the kitchen at Camp Vacamas in West Milford, New Jersey, he met his wife, Monica. They went on to get married on September 8th, 2001. Stevie worked a lot of jobs, but most of them involved his love of cooking. He spent a lot of time in the kitchen, as well as chatting with anyone who would be willing to. Anyone who knew Stevie would say that he was the most talkative, funny, and charismatic guy you’d ever meet. He had a wonderful knack for solving problems, and he never let life get in his way. The things that Stevie experienced in his life usually would put most people down, but for him, they made him want to appreciate life even more. He embraced every challenge with grace. He touched the lives of countless people with his kindness and wisdom, and he will be missed dearly.
Stevie was preceded in death by his parents, Carol Mackie and Hugh Clayton Durant. He was also preceded by his siblings, Debrah Ann Durant and Hugh Clayton Durant Jr.
Stevie is survived by his wife, Monica; his son, Christopher, and his two daughters, Jessica and Natalie. He is also survived by his siblings Willie Mae Durant Bell, Georgette Durant Davies, Rosemary Durant, Jerome Kenneth Durant, Garry Durant, and Vincent Durant.
