Steven J. Gehrman

Steven J. Gehrman, age 78 of Appleton, reunited with his wife Janice in heaven on December 27, 2023. He was born on December 24, 1945 in Chicago, IL to the late Harold and Mary Gehrman. He married his high school sweetheart on June 22, 1968 and they moved to Appleton to raise their family. Steve went to work at Zwickers Knitting Mills in Appleton, and worked there for 25 years until they closed down. He worked for Laminations, where he stayed until his retirement. Steve enjoyed going up north and fishing. He also enjoyed going to the casino with Jan; her luck was in the slots, his was when he met her. They didn't have a lot of money, but made even the simplest moments special. He loved spending time with his family and friends; he always had a snappy come back. He especially enjoyed a nice brandy old fashioned sweet with olives. Steven wanted a celebration at his parting, because he was going to get back to his girl, and that was something to celebrate.
He is survived by his son, Thomas M. (Jenny) Gehrman and daughter, Jennifer A. (Matthew) Brunner, grandchildren; Thomas C., Melissa N. and Samantha M. Gehrman, great grandchildren; Kennedy and Carter Van Handel. Steve is further survived by his sister in law, Judy Johnsen as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death was his beloved wife Jan, his parents, sister, Fran (Rich) Edmunds, brother in law, Bobby (Brenda) Hofrichter and mother in law, Bernice Zipp.
Family and friends may gather on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond St., Appleton from 9:30am until 11:30am, with a memorial service at 11:30. Inurnment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Appleton. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established by his family.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all of the staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton for giving Steven such great care.
