Everyone whose life was touched by my cousin Stevie was better for it. What more of a legacy can anyone leave? Love you, Stevie.

I am very sorry to hear the news of our loss of Stevie. I am only 16 months older, so I remember growing up with Stevie at Milliken reunions and at summer events with the extended family. As others have noted, I remember the boundless warmth in this smiles and his hugs. I regret that I never had the words to express my appreciation for his unique kindness. I will miss him.

My first memory of my cousin, Stevie, was of him as a baby at our Milliken Reunion. Even then he brought joy to our annual gathering. And then there is my family's favorite story about Stevie. My parents were visiting his parents at their trailer in Michigan. It was getting late and Steve was told that it was time for him to go to bed. He told everyone goodnight and gave them all hugs, and as he passed the plate of freshly baked cookies on the stove, he leaned in at them and said, "...and I'll see YOU in the morning." Thanks for the memories, Steve. We love you.

Steve was a wonderful person. I remember one day when I was in 3rd grade at Darden Elementary School, and it was lunchtime. His class was in line to go back to their classroom, and he came over and gave me a big hug. I didn't realize who he was; I guess I was too young at that point to remember him from our Milliken family reunions, but he remembered me. And that was the essence of Steve - he noticed people, and showed his love without reservation. His hugs will be missed.
