Steven “Steve” Lee Hull - beloved husband, father, brother, son, and friend - went home to be with the Lord on September 12, 2025. Steve was born on July 9, 1964 to parents Clifford Hull and Patricia (Deeter) Johnson in Marion, Indiana.
After graduating from Carmel High School in 1982, Steve proudly went on to work for the Indianapolis Police Department as a patrolman and then detective. While serving his community, Steve earned prestigious awards such as “Detective of the Month” and “Outstanding Young Men in America.” Steve retired from IPD in 2005 after 16 years. Unsatisfied with retirement, Steve went on to launch his own business, start a second career in IT, and earn his Associates degree in Computer Information Technology.
Volunteering for organizations such as New York City and Circle City Relief; Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center and Northview Church was a passion for Steve. His favorite volunteer role was “Foster Dog Dad.” He and Nancy opened their home to 17 dogs to provide a safe, loving environment while the animals healed and searched for their forever homes. Steve loved cheering on local sports teams, especially the Indianapolis Colts.
Steve found his love, Nancy, and the two blended their families when they married in 2014. In addition to his loving wife Nancy, Steve is survived by his daughters Stephanie (Christopher) Guagliardo and Elizabeth (Aaron) Quinn; mother Patricia Johnson; father and step-mother Clifford and Cathy Hull; stepchildren Shannon Ladislas and Greg (Miranda) Oliver; grandchildren Noah, Charlotte, Isaac, Dallas, Conner, Alice, Alaine, Zander, Zion, Gavin and Connor; brothers Kevin Hull and Brian (Carol) Hull; sister Sherri (Adam) Jachelski; and his spoiled dog Noel. Steve is preceded in death by his stepfather, Kenneth Johnson.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, September 26, 2025, at Flanner Buchanan – Carmel (325 E. Carmel Dr. Carmel, IN). The family will receive visitors from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Redemption Rescue, Inc. or to "We Care" - Indiana Law Enforcement's Mental Health Initiative.
