Steven P. Hurd

Steven P. Hurd, 73, of Loves Park, IL died on February 13, 2023, at William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, WI. He was born on March 28, 1949, in Machesney Park, IL, the son of Eugene W. and June H. (Cherry) Hurd, the eighth of 10 children.
Steve worked at a sand and gravel plant before being drafted into the United States Army on May 12, 1969. After Radio Communications school, he left for Viet Nam on December 19, 1969, assigned to the 1st CAV Airmobile at Phuoc Vinh. He earned a Bronze Star, Air Medal, M16 Expert Badge and M14 Sharpshooter Badge. After being discharged from the Army in November 1970, Steve owned and operated Steve's Auto Sales for many years and then worked for Fran Kral for several years. Music, sports, cars and family all brought pleasure and happiness to Steve's life. He was a wonderful person and will be missed.
Steve is survived by his brothers, Bill and Marvin; Sisters, Betty, Lucille and Debra; son, Mark and close friends, Bonnie Neblock, Steve Anderson and Leland "Bubba" Morris. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jack and Gene and sisters, Louella and Mary.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S.
