Steven Carl Konrad, 59, of Wausaukee, formerly of Sturgeon Bay, unexpectedly passed away on May 31, 2025, at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay. His departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Born August 10, 1965, in Sturgeon Bay, Steven was the cherished son of the late Vernon Jr. and Carol (Schwichtenberg). He proudly graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School, Class of '84, and went on to leave an indelible mark as a master carpenter. Self-employed for much of his career, Steven's craftsmanship transformed houses into homes, each project reflecting the love and dedication he poured into his work. He relished his summers at the Ace Hardware Store in Crivitz, connecting with the community and sharing his knowledge far and wide. Steven's heart belonged to his land in Wausaukee, a sanctuary, he pursued his dreams and reveled in nature's beauty. Though his vision for the property remained a work in progress it brought him immense joy and represented the peace it provided him. During the colder months, he chose to be in Milwaukee, where he was surrounded by the warmth and love of his cherished children and grandchildren, who welcomed him with open arms.
A genuinely personable man, Steven had an extraordinary gift for striking up conversations with anyone, bridging gaps with humor and true compassion that made him instantly relatable. He found beauty in the simple pleasures of life; a home-cooked meal shared with family, a quiet walk in nature, or the satisfaction of tinkering to improve something's function, at times, not knowing when to stop. He truly enjoyed living life to the beat of his own drum. His selflessness was evident in his willingness to lend a helping hand, always willing to be a hand in the needs of others. To Steven, materialistic possessions were merely just that; Materials. He believed true wealth was obtained in the relationships he nurtured. Steven donated his organs, allowing numerous people the chance to live on among those they love. Though we ache for his physical presence, we find solace in knowing that his last act of generosity has given life to others, continuing his legacy of love.
Preceded in death by Carol Schaffer (Mother), Vern Konrad (Father), Robert Schaffer (Step Father), Linda Konrad (sister).
Steven is survived by his siblings Barb Bloyer & Vern Konrad. His three beloved children: Matthew, Martina & Shanea as well as his cherished grandchildren: Xavier, Vayda, Amirah (AJ), Amya, Zayla & Zander. As we remember Steven, we honor his spirit and the love he shared with all of us.
The family is planning a memorial service and details will be provided at a later time.
