Steven "Steve" Langhans, 40, of Chicago Heights, IL passed away on August 10, 2023, in St. John, IN. Steve was born on August 8, 1983, and was the beloved son of Jean (Colin)Werner and the late Ronald Langhans.
Steve is survived by his daughter, Dixie Petzinger Langhans, and his stepson, Owen Cox. He also leaves behind his mother, Jean (Colin) Werner his brother, Michael Langhans and his sister, Jessica (Brad) Stooksbury. Steve will be missed by his nephews, Brody Langhans and Benjamin Stooksbury, as well as his nieces, Brooklyn Langhans and Charlotte Stooksbury. He is also survived by his aunts, uncles, and many cousins.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Langhans; his grandparents, Shirley and Daniel Veschak; Hans and Beulah Langhans; as well as his uncle, Robert Livingston.
Steve was a determined and sometimes stubborn individual, but beneath his tough exterior, he had a heart of gold. He would drop everything if someone needed him and would go to great lengths for his children and family, whom he loved deeply. Steve could do anything he put his mind too and could fix anything you put in front of him. Steve loved the outdoors and could sit outside for hours on end.
Steve attended Hanover Central High School and still has many friends from his high school years.
A ceremony to honor Steve's life will be held at Lighthouse Church, located at 13419 Parrish Ave, Cedar Lake, IN, on Wednesday August 23, from 2pm to 7pm. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and celebrate Steve's memory during this time.
