It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Steven Ryan Mallory, who left us at the age of 38. Ryan was a devoted father and co-parent with Nichole Mallory to their beloved daughters, Reya and Remi, whom he cherished with all his heart. As a dedicated "girl dad," he found immense joy and pride in every moment spent with Reya and Remi from bedtime madness, princess parties, adventures, exploring nature and endless cuddles.
Ryan was an avid learner and a passionate teacher, known for his unwavering commitment to his students. He had a unique ability to see potential in all students, earning their respect and admiration through his charismatic personality and genuine love of history. His sense of humor, intelligence, and curiosity made him a beloved figure in the classroom and beyond. Middletown High School was Ryan's professional haven, a place he truly loved. Ryan was blessed to build a community of people throughout Connecticut who over time became a family away from home.
A true entertainer at heart, Ryan had an innate ability to make people laugh, tell a captivating story, or break into a dance. He even made an MTV appearance through a reality show. Ryan loved engaging with people no matter the circumstance, continuously seeking opportunities for connection.
Ryan was a loyal friend, confidant, and wingman. He had a remarkable ability to uplift others, making them feel like the most important person in the world. He gave great advice and reminded us to always be grateful, living by this principle even when times were tough.
While Ryan lived in Connecticut for the past 19 years, he remained deeply connected with his family back in Cincinnati, which was always home for him. He regularly brought Reya and Remi to Cincinnati to share his family traditions. Ryan comes from a large extended family who looked forward to every visit and adored his girls. He was an "all weather" fan of the Reds and Bengals, sharing game-time superstitions with his dad and trying to convert New England fans to his Cincinnati teams. Ryan and his mom talked every day, sharing both important and mundane moments. He stayed closely connected with his sisters and gave enough love to his family to last a lifetime in his 38 years.
Ryan's legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched with his kindness, wisdom, and zest for life. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, students, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Rest easy, Ryan. Your humor, spirit, and love will forever remain in our hearts.
A Memorial Service will be held 5:30pm Friday, July 5th at the Middletown High School 200 La Rosa Lane Middletown, CT 06457. There will also be a Memorial Mass in Cincinatti end of July with more details to come.

I was at Turning Point, a long term sober living facility, in 2013 and 2014. Ryan worked there at the time before becoming a teacher, and often took me different places. He was an amazingly kind and forthright guy, always honest and upstanding. I just found out about his passing today, my wife is from Cincy and I'll think of him a lot when I'm there for Xmas

Just now finding this out. Ryan, it was great to re-connect and see you after all those years. You looked good. Who knew it would have been the last time. I am so proud of how you have grown; from the blue condos in CT to teaching your passion at Middletown High School and having your beautiful family. Watch over your princesses, fly high, and rest in peace.

I took his class just this year, we even celebrated his birthday before school ended. He was a great teacher, I never even knew about this until today. I'm very sad I never got to say goodbye. He made the class interesting and made me very interested in history, unlike my previous teachers.

I had Mr. Mallory for U.S Government a couple years ago. He was truly one of the most impactful teachers in my life. He made me fall in love with politics and law through his own profound passion of it. To this day, his class is what has set me on the path to go to law school, and become a lawyer. He was immensely kind, caring, and understanding, making those around him, like me, strive to reach their full potential. He will be greatly missed and my sincere condolences to his friends and family.

I remember he would let me hang out in his classroom during pride and would let my pride teacher know i was there for attendance, it was really nice since the other teachers were strict and i wanted to hang out with my friends who were in his class. He would always talk to his students as friends

Absolutely heartbroken. We were blessed to be neighbors of the Mallorys. Ryan, Kristen and Andrea were my kids first friends. There were not many days as young children they were not together; playing in each other´s yards, in our basements, going to Dulles School together, YMCA activities, playing in the snow. . . . I especially remember Ryan and my son playing countless hours of baseball in the empty lot next to us. And the time Ryan and my daughter were playing in our basement and gave her dolls, and themselves, haircuts. Ryan´s family will always carry him in their hearts. Rest in peace Ryan

I remember showing Mr. Mallory my presentation a day later because of personal reasons. My best friend and Mr. Mallory watched my cello arrangement and read my essay for my Ap Us History final. He asked me why I wasn´t in class for the past month. After I explained what happened to me, he was reasonably surprised. I told him I made cello/bass section leader and vice president for Tri-M. To be fair, I was overly excited than normal. Mr. Mallory told me, "This will be the summer of Bianca!" My best friend and I laughed at his comment. Mr. Mallory was always a funny, yet supportive person.

Ryan did his student teaching with me at Maloney. It had some bumpy road times but he pushed through, tried harder, and always flashed that winning smile. Love to his family far and wide. Many have gained an angel!

Mr. Mallory will never be forgotten, we made such a great team and it was honestly a pleasure to be in the same presence as him ever since we first met. My friends, himself, and other teachers knew how much I appreciated him and loved him. His soul was so genuine and he provided a space to be authentic yet always have room to grow and learn. His spirit will forever be with me and God Bless his family
