Steven Raleigh Mathews

Steven "Ole" "Red" Raleigh Mathews Age 70, of Cameron, WI, died Sunday, September 22, 2024 at his home. He was born on December 10, 1953 in Chippewa Falls, WI to Forrest and Lovina (Hedrington) Mathews. Ole graduated from Unity High School in Unity, WI in 1973 and then entered the United States Army during the Vietnam Era and was Honorably Discharged in 1977. He was married to Marlene Diesterhaft on August 6, 1983 in Almena, WI. Ole worked for Jennie-O Turkey Store in Barron and Twin Town Cheese Factory in Arland, WI for many years. He loved working in his shop, driving his friends around, helping everyone who was in need and enjoyed talking with people and making new friends. He is survived by his wife, Marlene Mathews; a son, Andy Mathews (Hollie Storin); a daughter, Sadie Mathews; 2 grandchildren, Raleigh and Felix; a brother, Donald Hedrington; 3 sisters, Rita (Terry) Sullivan, Sally (Wes) Christiansen and Sharon (Harvy) Christensen; his special cat, Elmer; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Lovina Mathews; a brother, Gary Mathews; a sister, Janice Fox; a nephew, Christopher French. A celebration of his life will be held from 11AM-1PM Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Appleyard's Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI, where Military Rites will be accorded him by the Barron American Legion Post at 1PM.
