Steven Maul Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Edwards Memorial Funeral Homes - University Place on Jan. 16, 2026.
Steven William Maul, 64, of Tacoma, Washington, passed away peacefully in his hometown on December 17, 2025. Born on April 1, 1961, in Tacoma, he was the beloved son of the late Allan and Myrna Maul. Steven is preceded in death by his father Allan, his mother Myrna, his brother Craig, and his son Sheldon. He leaves behind his sister Linda, brother Clint, his children Slade, Suzanne, and Andrew, as well as his beloved grandson Braxton. He will be fondly remembered by his numerous nieces and nephews. Steven\'s life was further enriched by the presence of his best friend and chosen love for the last chapter of his life, Debbie May, and her family - John, Brittnee, Carter, Adrina, Briella, and Carson, who were an integral part of his journey. After graduating from Wilson High School in Tacoma, Steven attended Gonzaga University where he discovered and nourished his passion for basketball. As a journeyman painter, he found joy in the transformation of spaces, and the precision and artistry that his work required. His love for sports, specifically basketball and baseball, truly defined him. March Madness was a special time for Steve, and he took great pleasure in the excitement and camaraderie of the season. His love for baseball was only second to basketball, and many a night was spent enjoying a game of MLB with his son Andrew and a plate of his favorite BBQ ribs. While we mourn the loss of Steven, we also celebrate his life and accomplishments. He was a man of great strength and integrity, with a profound love for his family and friends. His resilience and unwavering spirit in the face of adversity will forever be an inspiration to those who were fortunate to know him. A private celebration of Steven\'s life will be held in accordance with his wishes. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Jim Williams, a family friend who remained unwaveringly by Steve\'s side during his difficult time. We will always remember your steadfast support. As we bid farewell to Steven, we honor his memory by remembering the love, laughter, and joy he brought into our lives. His legacy will live on through his loved ones and in the many lives he touched. May he rest in peace.
