Steven "Mac" J. McCaffrey, 64, of Manistique, Michigan, passed away on September 23, 2025, at St. Vincent's Hospital, Wisconsin. Steven was born on October 25, 1960, in Cleveland, Ohio to John P. McCaffrey and Wanita Mae (Johnston) McCaffrey. His family moved to Meadville, Pennsylvania where he grew up and attended school through High School graduation. In 1992 he married the former Karen Hadden at the First Baptist Church in Meadville.

Prior to Steve's passing he had been working at the Kewadin Casino where he was a cook before switching to security. He worked for several years at Rail Link starting in Erie, PA which brought him to Manistique in 2002. Prior to Rail Link he worked at Trinity Industries and various other jobs. Steven enlisted with the Army in 1979 then the National Guard in 1989; he was very proud to serve his country.

In his time off work he loved to bowl, golf, and spend time with his family.

Steve was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife Karen McCaffrey (Hadden), daughters Ann M. Nichols of Meadville PA; Brenda L. Greenawald (Bill) of Meadville PA; sons, Jack D. McCaffrey of Meadville PA; and Darren A. McCaffrey of Cresson PA, as well as five grandchildren and eight great-grandkids. In addition to his wife and children he is survived by his sisters LeeAnn Langworthy (Gerome) of Kalkaska, MI; Brenda Peebles of Meadville PA; Sara McCaffrey of Meadville PA; brothers Timothy McCaffrey (Shelly) of Altoona PA, and John McCaffrey (Carol) of Geneva PA, along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents John "Jack" Paul McCaffrey, and Wanita Mae McCaffrey (Johnston) and son Brendan McCaffrey.

Memorial donations in Steve's memory may be sent to the family for future designation.

A Celebration of Life will be on November 29, 2025, at the Comfort Inn at 617 E. Lakeshore Dr. Manistique. Time of celebration will be announced closer to the date.

The family understands not all of Steve's family and/or friends will be able to make it to the Celebration of Life in Michigan, so, a second celebration will be held in late spring 2026 in Meadville. Details of this celebration will be forthcoming.
