Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. Steven passed away Thursday, October 24, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Fairmont. The Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Steven Peter Neu was born on February 28, 1956, in South St. Paul, MN, the son of Virgil and Delores (Molitor) Neu. Steve was baptized and later confirmed at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in South St. Paul and received his education attending Holy Trinity Parochial School. He attended high school in South St. Paul, completing his education with the class of 1974.
On September 18, 1980, Steve was united in marriage to Regina "DeeDee" Smith in St. Paul, MN. Steve and DeeDee loved adventure and were determined to carve out a life that was meaningful to them. Following their marriage, Steve and DeeDee took a chance and moved to Fairmont, MN, where they knew no one and opened "Shenanigan's Cheer & Chow" and created many lasting friendships and memories during their 38 ½ years as owners.
Steve and DeeDee were blessed to be able to add to their family when they adopted their children, Chastity and Dakota. Family was extremely important to Steve, and he tried to live his life centered around God and family. He took great pride in a hard day's work but also looked forward to quiet time spent up north at the cabin sharing laughs and beverages around the fire with family and friends. Steve was quick witted with an infectious laugh and a sharp tongue and had a wonderful sense of humor. Steve enjoyed warm summer days out on the lake trying his luck at catching the big one. Some of his favorite memories were road trips with family, especially his trip to Key West and his annual summer trips with DeeDee, his children and parents.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 44 years, DeeDee Neu; children, Chastity Neu and Dakota Neu and special friend, Tia; three grandchildren, Steven G. Neu, Xaviera Neu, and Colt Neu; brothers, Vern (Deb) Neu, Tom (Nicole) Neu, and pat (Julie) Neu; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Delores Neu; a sister, Sandy Neu; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
