Steve was born on July 8, 1949 in New Rockford, North Dakota. He was the 3rd of 4 children born to Gaylord and Veronica Orbin. He was baptized on January 15, 1956. Steve graduated from Minnetonka High School in Minnetonka, MN in 1968.
He started working at Tennant Company in 1968 in the Stock Room and that is where he met his future bride. He married Kathleen (Loeffler) in March of 1981. He continued to work at Tennant Company until February 2002, which is when his health no longer permitted him to work. He had 4 children: Christina (Doug) (from a previous marriage), Michael, Daniel (Kate) and Sarah (Luke); 6 grandchildren: Carter, Tatum, Abel, Charles, Abigail and Elianna. He was so proud of his kids and grandkids and loved whenever they visited him. He is survived by his children and grandchildren, brother Pat (Sandy), sister Cheryl (Bill) and sister Renee (Norm). He is also survived by many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and cousins.
Steve was diagnosed with COPD in 1999 and never complained about what he had to give up or couldn't do anymore. He accepted his limitations with grace. Nobody fought harder than he did and for such a long time!
Steve's life revolved around his unwavering commitment to Jesus Christ and his family. He loved his team, the Minnesota Vikings and was the most dedicated fan you would ever meet. He dressed in his Vikings gear in preparation for each and every game and took it very seriously. He also was very interested in military history and had a very deep respect for those who are currently serving and those who have served. He had the most contagious laugh and loved to kid and tease. He loved his ice cream (and pretty much any sweet) and found pleasure in the 'little things' in life.
We will always cherish the memories of his laughter, his love for the Vikings, his family and faith in God. He will be sorely missed, but not forgotten.
John 16:22 Therefore you now have sorrow, but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you.
