Steven Quast Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapels - Coon Rapids on May 26, 2024.
Steven John Quast was an incredibly compassionate person who loved helping others. He passed away on May 23, 2024 at home. Although it was a surprise, he had been battling a genetic heart disease called Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC), which appeared as a cardiac arrest in late January of 2023. He also suffered a brain injury from his resuscitation. He had multiple ablation procedures at Mayo Clinic and was hoping to participate in a research study for ARVC, the heart irregularity that took him too soon. We know that he is now at peace.
Steve was so much more than his life-ending health issues. He was a phenomenal cook and was always looking for recipes. He made an addictively delicious chicken and wild rice soup. You'd likely find him grilling on his Weber Kettle grill with a local craft beer in hand on a 70 degree summer evening. He was passionate about the beauty of nature and was a music lover who fell in love with jazz when he started playing the saxophone at Totino-Grace High School. He was a sports nut. He played both tennis and basketball earlier in his life, was a devoted fantasy football and baseball player, and could be found on golf courses all around Minnesota.
After graduating from St. Olaf College with a double major in Math and Economics, Steve started a career in analytics and worked for several companies including Comb, FDC, Sanofi Diagnostics, Infogroup and Allant. He forged many great relationships with his clients and colleagues over his successful career.
Connection was very important to Steve. His friends meant the world to him. He loved his golf trips, poker parties and tap room outings. Laughing and connecting with others was his gift. He was a dad who was always there for his two daughters, Carly and Claire, and he loved his family with everything he had.
In celebration of his full, colorful life, we will have a 10 A.M. Visitation and 11 A.M. Memorial Service on Saturday, June 22 at Washburn McReavy, located at 1827 Coon Rapids Blvd. in Coon Rapids. This will be followed by a lunch at our home with many of Steve's favorite things. We ask guests to arrive at Steve's celebration of life in fun, comfortable clothes (no black, please) to honor the bright person that Steve was. Join us directly following the service at 2020 128th Lane NW, Coon Rapids. There will be a link to his Memorial Service posted here on the Washburn McReavy website. Please send plants instead of flowers to honor Steve's green thumb.
