Steven "Steve" Raymond Rensing, 53, went to be with the Lord unexpectedly on August 16, 2025. He was born on December 5, 1971, in Goshen, New York.
Steve met the love of his life, Laurie, while attending SUNY Oswego. After graduating in 1994, they moved to Raleigh, North Carolina, where they began their life together. In 2002, they welcomed their beloved daughter, Raygan, who became the light of his life and his greatest joy.
Steve loved nothing more than being surrounded by his family and friends. His fierce love for children and animals-especially his dogs-reflected the compassion that defined him. He valued hard work, honesty, and loyalty, and will be remembered for his sense of humor, his generous heart, and his larger-than-life personality. Steve never met a stranger, and everyone who crossed his path was better for knowing him.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Steve excelled at baseball and tennis in his youth, but his true passion was basketball until Raygan started playing softball. His knowledge of sports was unmatched, and his ability to recall statistics (especially Raygan's pitching stats) was impeccable. Whether watching a game or sharing a laugh, Steve's energy could light up any room.
Above all, Steve's greatest love was spending time with his family. He was deeply loved, and the joy and laughter he brought to others will never be forgotten. His passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but his love and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Steve was preceded in death by his father Richard James Rensing, Sr.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 26 years, Laurie, daughter Raygan, mother Susan Waechter (Karl), brother Richard James Rensing Jr (Becky), sister Debra Cook (Billy), bonus sister Staci Marciano (Jorge), loving in laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
