Steven Edward Shafer, age 69, left us on July 29, 2025. Born on August 19, 1955, in Clendenin, West Virginia, Steve was a beloved father, a devoted friend, and a hardworking foreman at Stark Truss, where he dedicated an impressive 45 years of his life.

With a strong work ethic that was admired by all, Steve was known for his commitment to excellence and his unwavering dedication to his job. He was not only a respected leader but also a source of inspiration to his colleagues.

Outside of work, Steve was an avid hunter who cherished the great outdoors and the adventure it brought. He loved spending time with his family and friends, creating countless memories filled with laughter and love. His warmth and generosity touched everyone he met, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Steven was preceded in death by his father Romey Shafer, mother Wanda Wolford, step-father Jim Wolford, daughter Denise King, granddaughter Ashley Skeeles, and siblings Ted Shafer and Denise Piechowski. He is survived by daughter Teresa Skeeles (Chris), son Steven Shafer II, siblings Bruce, Donna, Patty, Kathy, and Jimmy, grandchildren Alyssa, Christopher, Steven III, Hailey, Joshua, Erica, Tyler, and Justin, best friends for over 50 years Rick Wilson (Laura) and Sherry McCollam, many nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren.

Steve was a very independent person. Very hard working. He loved with all his heart. He loved hunting with his best friend Rick Wilson, his kids and grandkids. Worked 45 years at the same place receiving numerous awards for his excellent attendance and abilities. He was loved by many and will truly be missed. Go rest high on that mountain Steve.
